Seasonal Work from Home Jobs

If you live in an area that is conducive to growing crops of vegetables and fruit, you’ve got a work from home job right there in your backyard. With so many people into the health craze, there’s nothing more popular than fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, canned vegetables, jams, jellies and preserves. If you have a plot of land that can be used for growing vegetables and fruit, you have all you need to make some money right from your own home.

First of all, follow planting instructions carefully as to when the best time to plant certain things is and how to plant them. Once you’ve done all the planting, you can start searching for and gathering supplies that you’ll need for selling and canning later. These include canning equipment, jars and any type of seasoning needed.

Once you’re ready to start harvesting, you can set up a little fresh vegetable market for people to stop by and choose their own vegetables and fruit. All you’ll need on hand for this is some baskets to keep the produce in and some cheap plastic bags to put the purchases in for your customers. If you’ve taken good care of your produce, and keep your prices reasonable, then you’re certain to have a steady supply of customers. It’s also possible to join forces with other friends that have gardens and all of you run this fresh produce market.

If you’re going to be canning or creating jams, jellies, and preserves, you can sell these for up to 6 months. Canning a lot of different products can keep you selling well into the year. If you have the time and are so inclined, you can put together baskets of various jellies, jams, preserves and other small edible items. These small gift baskets can have such things as muffins and sweet breads added.

Another popular food item is homemade salsa. This stuff lasts indefinitely when it’s canned properly. These can also be sold with such things as chips to go with them. Sell them together in baskets or alone for your customers to use as they see fit. Either way, they will sell like hot cakes.

Again, all of the canned produce can be sold for several months and provide you with quite a tidy income right from home even if you only do it part time. All you’ll need is a good place to store your canned goods once they’re ready until you can sell them. Usually, it’s not that difficult to find a place to put them until they’re ready to be set out for sale. Any spare shelves will actually provide a great storage area for them.

When you’re ready to start selling them, put up a sign in your yard, place an ad in a free classified newspaper, put up flyers, or use word of mouth from your customers. Any of these will get your little business plenty of attention and, as a result, plenty of sales.
